Eco Honeymoon Essential Kit

The wedding is great…but I’m sure you are just as excited for the honeymoon. Right? I know when I got married just 3ish years ago I was so excited for my honeymoon trip to Mexico. And boy was it fun!

While, you’re planning for your fun trip away don’t forget about a few essentials that will make your trip a ton of fun. All of these essentials are eco-friendly too!

A cute metal or glass tumbler.

One of the best gifts my husband and I received were tumblers. My in-laws gifted us the kind that keep your beverage cold or hot. They were a lifesaver! We used them constantly on our trip. Not only did we save a ton of money and time we greatly reduced our plastic consumption because we didn’t have to go out of our way to buy plastic bottles of water.

Peppermint and tea tree essential oils.

Peppermint essential oil can greatly reduce the effects of headaches. I don’t know about you but whenever I travel I somehow develop a headache. Peppermint oil is calming and relaxing. I use Tea tree oil as an alternative to hand sanitizer. It’s works great and can be mixed with other oil to give it a desired sent. Remember, only purchase therapeutic grade essential oils that are USDA certified organic. Other types can have harmful chemicals in them. Also, so your research before blending oils. Some oils when blended can be harmful to the body. And, as always, spot and consult with your doctor or herbalist before using any new essential oils.

My husband and I have matching reusable silverware sets. We love them! Ours came with a bamboo fork, spoon, knife (you can take this out if you’re flying), chopsticks, straw, straw cleaner and canvas travel case. Not everywhere you go will have traditional eating utensils and it’s always great to say no to plastic straws. By bringing this along with you, you can greatly reduce your plastic consumption and help save our oceans and ecosystems.

Bamboo toothbrush.

I love my bamboo toothbrush and it only cost me about $1. Instead of using the plastic toothbrushes most hotels provide consider bringing your own bamboo toothbrush. Bamboo is a very sustainable wood and most bamboo products are compostable.

Reusable bag.

There might be times on your trip when you want to hit the shops. Maybe you want to check out the local farmers market or buy a cute outfit from area. Reusable bags can help reduce the consumption of plastic bags which according to Columbia University can take 20 years to decompose. Yikes!

Metal Lunch Tin

There is nothing worse than having yummy leftovers and no way of heating them up. It’s the pits! Metal lunch tins keep food warm so that using a microwave is unnecessary. You can find them at The World Market. Using these tins can reduce Styrofoam consumption. Styrofoam often ends up in the ocean and harms ecosystems.
